Book nowIn September 2022 Minister de Brenni released The Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, unveiling how the state will build the Queensland SuperGrid, Australia’s largest, to transport at least 25 GW of new and existing renewable energy by 2035.
Supported by the Queensland SuperGrid Infrastructure Blueprint, it also outlines its plan to convert all publicly owned coal-fired power stations to clean energy hubs and ensuring no regular reliance on coal-fired power by 2035.
Queensland is so serious about its plan that the Parliament will legislate its targets. 70% by 2032 and 80% by 2035, eliminating 96% of the sector’s emissions by 2040.
To get there, Queensland is building two of the most significant energy projects in Australia; the world’s most powerful pumped hydro, the 5GW Pioneer-Burdekin project, and the 2GW Borumba project which is due online by 2030.
Queensland’s plan for its climate and energy transition is widely regarded as the most comprehensive, accountable, realistic, transparent, and effective plan for an energy transition… not just in Australia, but quite possibly the world.
