Book nowArturo D. Alarcón is a senior specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). With 13 years of experience at the IDB, he has been instrumental in leading and implementing various energy projects across Latin America. His expertise spans generation, transmission, distribution, and rural electrification initiatives, while also contributing to regional integration and regulatory framework modernisation.
At the IDB's Energy Division, Arturo serves as the focal point for hydroelectric matters, playing a pivotal role in spearheading regional projects focused on hydropower modernisation and the development of hydro pumped storage systems.
Before joining the IDB, Arturo worked at the Institute for Energy and Environment in Glasgow, UK. During his time there, he dedicated himself to pioneering novel planning methodologies for power systems.
Arturo holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, a Master's in Power Systems and Business, and an undergraduate degree in Electromechanical Engineering.
