Book nowGemma joined the International Hydropower Association as its Head of Communications and Advocacy in November 2022. Her role includes leading the delivery of all IHA's communications and engagement work along with managing its brand.
Gemma has worked in communications in several senior roles spanning an international career of over 20 years. Her experience includes team leadership as former Chief Communications Officer for the British Army, where she also formed part of the team that developed the Army’s first sustainability strategy.
Gemma speaks French and Portuguese fluently due to time spent working and living in France and Brazil and has experience in behaviour change campaigning driving innovation and change in the clean energy sector. She has published work on engaging the public in climate change and holds an MSc in Sustainable Development in Practice.
When not working on initiatives to save the planet, Gemma tries her hand at sparring with her son in Ju Jitsu, eating great food and attempting to keep up with her rescue dog on walks near her home in the UK's Test Valley.
