HU Weizhong is a past vice chief engineer of the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources. Currently he serves as the Deputy General Manager of CISPDR Corporation, specialising in large-scale reservoirs operation optimisation, flood control and water resources management of the Yangtze River Basin. He has presided over more than 10 national and provincial research projects, such as the key technologies for multi-objective regulation of Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake, which is a national key research and development programme of China. He also led the compilation of water projects' joint operation scheme for the Yangtze River Basin in 2021 as well as the reservoir regulation rules for the Three Gorges Project.
